Sonia Bazanta Vides born August 1, 1940 better known as Totó la Momposina, is a folk music singer from the Caribbean Coast of Colombia. Her music combines African, indigenous and Spanish elements as happened during the time of Spanish colonization in America. The rhythms that were born from this fusion were multiple, the most representative being the bagpipe, the cumbia , the porro , the chalupa, the sextet and the Mapalé .
