Tebogo Mahlatsi (Yizo Yizo Producer) Has Passed Away

Death is an inevitable part of life, but it’s usually celebrated after one lives a fulfilled life, with children and possibly grand children, then at old age with gray hairs, one can answer the call of nature.

It is usually painful when the death of a young person occurs, which maybe was caused by a mishap or illness.

South Africa this week lost another popular entertainer, producer and director. The movie star whose real name is Teboho Mahlatsi passed on Monday 3rd July 2023.

His funeral ceremony has already been scheduled to hold on Friday, a few days after his death.

Mahlatsi died in the early hours of Monday after battling with Cancer, he passed at the age of 49.

He was very popular because he was the filmmaker and producer who produced the popular movie “Yizo Yizo”, a very popular drama series that aired from 1999 to 2004, his movie is currently streaming on Netflix.

On  Monday morning, the news broke about the passing of the Yizo Yizo creator at 49 after he sufferend from the deadly cancer disease.

The first person to reveal about the sad news was the Comedian, David Kau who happens to be his friend too. The comedian went to his Facebook page to reveal that his Friend Mahlatsi had kicked the bucket.

Comedian David Kau’s statement on his Facebook wall read and we quote; “ON BEHALF OF THE FAMILY MAHLATSI We regret to inform you of the untimely loss on July 3, 2023, of filmmaker and producer Teboho Moseling Mahlatsi. The family politely begs prayers instead of individual condolences as well as space to mourn and come to grips with the devastating loss. More information will be released when it is appropriate. – Family Mahlatsi Peace Be With You, Brother.”

Shortly after the comedian shared the update, another of his friend, Angus Gibson who is known to be very close to Teboho also affirmed the passing of the movie producer.

Angus’ update on his social media read and we also quote; “We just learnt the news about his passing, it’s very sad. I am on my way to his house as we speak.”

Tebogo Mahlatsi was a major lead producer of some of the award winning and controversial drama series in South Africa like Yizo Yizo released in 1999 and is currently aired on Netflix, he also produced Portrait of a Young Man Drowning in 1999, and was also among the lead producers of For Love and Broken Bones which was released in 2016.

Asides the movies he was a lead producer, he was in the Bomb’s team that produced some other nice drama series some of which are; Jacob’s Cross, Ayeye and Isibaya. He was with Bomb’s movie Productions for about 20 years before he created his own movie producing company which he called Moseling Films.

Tebogo Mahlatsi married a wife and they both have two kids, though he is reported to be the father of the popular American female singer, Doja Cat.
